Coach's Comments: Christian has led the team in scoring the last two years and could do the same again this year because of his ability to finish in the paint - both in transition and in the half court. He has worked hard to improve his perimeter defense on the ball. His athleticism is top notch and his desire to get better is the same. His shot has improved much over his career and continues to make him more of threat from behind the arc.

September 2011 - from - from Dodge Shootout - Christian Benzon, was arguably the most athletic player in attendance. The physical wing was a nightmare for most defenders trying to contain him. He was relentless attacking the glass on both ends of the floor and sprinted ahead of the pack looking for highlight dunks. In the half court, he is at his best when putting the ball on the floor for 2-3 dribbles and getting to the rim. His jump shot and ball handling are still a work in progress.

July 2011 - from - Christian Benzon, 6’4 guard, Gainesville The Rock: It took Benzon (and the rest of the team) a little more than a half to get going against their first opponent.  By then it was too little too late but Benzon did show flashes of at least mid-major plus ability.  He made a couple of nice passes to teammates for scores, connected on a couple of deep jumpers and showed some shifty ball-handling skills to get past defenders and score at the basket.  Benzon has the ability to grab rebounds and start the break on his own and he is also an acceptable defender.  He needs to improve the consistency of his outside shot to keep defenses off balance.

October 2010 - from - It’s tough to pick the top 2013 player in attendance at the Dodge.  We’ll go with 6’4 wing Christian Benzon from Gainesville The Rock.  A foreign exchange student from Denmark, he’s long, skilled, smart, and athletic.  He didn’t show much range on his shot but he didn’t need to.  Benzon pretty much got to the basket at will.  He has good body control going full speed to the rim, understands how to make plays when handling the ball on the pick-and-roll, and finishes with either hand in traffic.  His length makes him a dangerous defender on the wing and Benzon hustles to make up ground if beaten off the dribble.  He too can grab the rebound on the defensive end and start the break on his own.  Benzon is definitely a high-major prospect.
